Pool Trick Shots as Competitive Sports

Traditionally, pool trick shots have been associated with hustlers and pool sharks who used their unordinary skill to attract innocent players and caused them to lose their dough. Only recently, the art of making unreasonable tricks using a billiards table, a cue, and billiards balls, has gained the respect it deserves.

The most notable trick shot events include Trick Shot Magic and the World Masters Trick Shot Championship, which marked its last event ever last year (2006) with the winning of our buddy Vincent Facquet. Trick shot events draw some of the top players from the professional pool and snooker circuits.

Pool Trick Shot Master Vincent Facquet

is a rare example of a trick shot master who is also a gifted pool and snooker player. The 3-times world champion of trick shots also a 9-times French champion (in 8ball pool, straight pool and snooker) and a member of the estimated European Mosconi Cup team.

The 39 years old France resident had begun playing billiards, and carom billiards of all billiards games, at the age of 7. He persisted on carom billiards for 12 years until English 8ball and snooker came into his life. Later on, Facquet had great success in pool trick shots and American pool simultaneously.

In 1992, at 23 years old, Facquet won his first world championship of trick shots. Two years later he had begun sweeping titles on American 8ball and 9ball pool tournaments. Ever since then, Vincent Facquet had continued developing both skills and appearing both in major pool tournaments (such as the World Pool Masters, International Pool Tour and more) and in pool trick shot exhibitions and competitions. In 2006, Facquet beat snooker stars such as Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor and took home the last ever trick shot title.
